Remodeled Store Holds Open House Nov. 30-December 1

Saltwell Western Store is hosting an open house to debut its remodeled and expanded facility on November 30 and December 1.

The open house event will take place Friday, November 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The store is located at 2000 Seven Mile Drive, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.

Throughout the open house, the store will feature special promotions and sales in all departments in addition to hourly product giveaways including jeans, hats, boots, and more.

The family-owned Saltwell Western Store is celebrating its expanded its showroom floor, which is now 7,000 square feet. New construction has also added an additional 1,800 square feet of warehouse space to the facility.

The expansion is the fifth in the store’s history, said Sally Puzacke, who owns the store with her husband Jay. The store has come a long way from its humble 800 square foot start. “My mom and dad (Venette and the late Vern Mason) started the store in 1963,” Sally Puzacke said. “My dad was very active in the horse business and couldn’t find horse supplies in the area. He started with a 20 by 40 foot area that just sold horse supplies.”

Today, Saltwell Western Store sells everything from men’s, ladies’ and children’s fashion jeans and western wear, to boots and cowboy hats to jewelry and western décor and while the name includes ‘Western Store’, the store carries a wide assortment of gifts, clothing, and home décor for all lifestyles

“We estimate about 50 percent of the people who come in the store today don’t have any animals,” Puzacke said. “We really pride ourselves on our personal attention to our customers and keeping track of the trends both in general fashion and the horse and livestock industries.”

In addition to its jeans and western wear fashions, the store offers a huge selection of boots and accommodates everyone from those seeking work boots to those who want exotic or custom boots. A large selection of children’s boots is also available.

“We’re so much more than a western store,” Puzacke said. “We have quite a few customers who buy our fashion jeans, boots, purses and jewelry who don’t consider themselves as following a western lifestyle, so we have something for everyone. If you’ve never been to our store before, I think you’ll be surprised at what all we have to offer.”

Puzacke noted that western décor and cowboy toys are also a popular addition to the store’s offerings in recent years. “Our jewelry is very popular too. We offer everything from costume jewelry to hand-made turquoise and sterling silver pieces,” she said. “We still carry a full line of horse care products as well as tack, and can custom order saddles and other tack for customers as well.”
